I began my career working in a range of copywriting, marketing communications and OD functions in the media, pharmaceutical and IT industries for Thomson’s Newsgroup, GlaxoSmithKline and Cap Gemini.

Working on a variety of innovation projects, I became fascinated with the importance of creative forms of leadership, with the usefulness of holding spaces where new thinking could be encouraged, and where the ‘brand’ could be used to drive change forwards more successfully. However, I noticed that relationships between people within the organisation are often not all they could be, and that this affected the customer experience and ultimately, customer loyalty – with inevitable effects on profitability. I chose to do a Master’s Degree in Psychology to explore how to bridge Marketing, Innovation and Organisational Development disciplines, and – because I could not develop synergies between these two disciplines within a business, I became an independent consultant over twelve years ago.

This move gave me the freedom to forge my own distinctive practice. As well as undertaking ‘classic’ corporate communications and OD projects in private, public and ‘Third Sector’ organisations in the UK and Europe, I became increasingly involved in innovation projects. This shift of focus inspired me to explore the applications of creative process in business – an exploration that led me to undertake extensive training in Gestalt and Systems approaches, as well as to begin a PhD in ‘breakthrough’ – which I have nearly completed. I have a deep commitment to the study of consciousness, both through my doctoral work and through being a student of the Ridhwan School.

Many of my clients describe me as a ‘creative catalyst’, a strategic thinker who brings imagination, clarity, focus, drive and sensitivity to projects. Developing, harnessing and applying the collective intelligence of teams and groups throughout the whole organisation - and wider stakeholder network – is now central to my work, whether the entry-point is communications, leadership and management development, OD or innovation.

In addition to my work as a practitioner, I also enjoy writing for a range of both business and psychology journals about team dynamics, about new perspectives on branding, creative leadership and innovation, and on creating creative companies.
